Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2016-2026, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Mar 2015

The 2012 Pinot Noir Pas de Nom comes from a selection of ten barrels and ended up being around 38% new French oak (barrels from Estate, Zena, Shea and Elevee). It has an attractive bouquet, if not quite as complex as perhaps some of the single vineyard bottlings, with dusky black fruit, red plum, mocha and cigar box. The palate is medium-bodied with a mixture of black and red fruit on the entry interlaced with cumin and a hint of red peppercorns. There is appreciable density here with well-judged acidity, although it is just missing that peacock's tail on the finish. Otherwise, this is a fine Pinot Noir that will probably benefit from a year in bottle.

Brilliant ruby. Heady smoke- and spice-accented blackberry, mulberry and potpourri scents show superb clarity, with subtle cola, vanilla and sassafras notes adding complexity. Pliant and alluringly sweet on the palate, offering intense red and dark berry liqueur flavors that gain energy and floral character with air. At once concentrated and energetic, finishing with powerful thrust, supple tannins and a whiplash of sweet dark berries and floral pastilles.
