Good full yellow with gold highlights. White peach, green apple, flowers and fresh herbs on the nose. Fleshy and round in the mouth, showing an almost glyceral fleshy impression but enough acidity to energize its sweet, oily middle palate. Perhaps a bit youthfully monolithic today but finishes smooth and persistent. This has the highest acidity of the 2013 Chardonnays here, along with the Hyde. (ST)

From the famous Martinelli family, the 2013 Chardonnay Zio Tony Ranch (planted in 1990 in the heart of the cool Green Valley of the Russian River) is fashioned from Dijon clone 76, bottled without filtration, and sees 50% new oak. Abundant leesy, waxy, lemon meringue, caramelized citrus, honeysuckle, poached pear and tropical fruit notes are found in this medium to full-bodied white along with brilliant purity and nuanced background oak. It should drink beautifully for 7-8 years, possibly longer. Sadly, only 380 cases were produced.
