This 100% Petite Sirah aged in 28% new oak. The 2017 Petite Sirah is deep purple-black in the glass and explosive on the nose, with violet and lilac, blueberry and tar scents over an impenetrable core of blackcurrants plus accents of charred meats, spices, flowers and bitter chocolate. Full-bodied, it’s a behemoth in the mouth, opening to plum notes, with a straight jacket of very firm, very chewy tannins and just enough freshness to counter the density. 151 cases were made.

The 2017 Petite Sirah Sonoma County offers a full-bodied, powerful style, which should be expected with the variety, yet it also has terrific complexity in its blueberry and blackberry fruits, smoked earth, leafy herbs, and cigar tobacco aromas and flavors. Big, rich, and mouthfilling, it’s approachable today but will be better with 2-4 years of bottle age.
The 2017 Petite Sirah (Sonoma County) is another gorgeous appellation-level wine in the Carlisle lineup. Rich, pliant and inviting, the 2017 has so much to give. Blackberry jam, licorice, spice, menthol and chocolate are front and center. This is a surprisingly supple, almost juicy, Petite.
