2014 Macauley Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve

The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is an assemblage of different top sites in Napa, from the Star Vineyard in Rutherford to the Beckstoffer To Kalon in Oakville. This is still in barrel and awaiting bottling, but it looks to be a killer wine. Inky purple in color, with gloriously ripe blackberry and cassis fruit, some licorice, incense and graphite, the wine is full-bodied, multi-layered, and stunningly rich and long. It should turn out to be a fabulous effort to drink over the next 15-20 years.
