Note di degustazione
The 2013 Monte Bello Steep Terraces is just as magnificent from bottle as it was from barrel. Unctuous and deep on the palate, the Steep Terraces boasts magnificent intensity. Even with all of its richness, the Steep Terraces possesses considerable freshness, which gives the flavors a distinctly red-fruit leaning profile. Raspberry jam, wild flowers, mint and pomegranate are fused into a long, sweet finish. The Steep Terraces parcel, a core Monte Bello component, was first planted in 1972.

As the name states, the 2013 Monte Bello Steep Terraces emerges from the steepest Monte Bello parcel. Richer, deeper and also a touch riper than the Historic Vines, the Steep Terraces is absolutely riveting for its vivid personality and extraordinary balance. Tasting it straight out of barrel gives me the same visceral thrill I get when tasting the greatest Burgundy Grand Crus from barrel. What a magnificent wine this is shaping up to be. Readers will not want to miss this one-off bottling from one of the most intense Monte Bello parcels.
