2010 Red Car Pinot Noir Estate Fort Ross-Seaview

The 2011 Pinot Noir Red Car Estate emerges from a parcel in Fort Ross Seaview adjacent to Hirsch. Hints of tobacco, sweet herbs, licorice and mint add complexity to the dark red fruit in this focused, beautifully articulated Pinot. All the elements are very nicely balanced in the glass. The 2011 finishes with lovely savory and saline notes, and plenty of focus. The Estate is a great example of true Sonoma Coast Pinot, as it captures the nuanced, highly articulate style that defines the region, especially in this vintage. The vines were only planted in 2006, so it seems quite natural that this parcel's best days lie in the future. Today, the Estate impresses for its vibrant personality and fine overall balance.
