While this started out slightly closed it really opened up with air and was a big, heady wine that showed ripe, rich fruit, medium to full body and some serious length on the finish. While it possessed some of the honey, oily character of the varietal, this had beautiful acidity that held everything together.

Far more interesting is the 2005 Roussanne Venus. It offers exotic orange marmalade, rose water, and litchi notes, some tannin, enormous fruit and glycerin, and a heady style. Enjoy this 100% Roussanne over the next few years, but remember, this varietal often goes through an oxidized stage before resurrecting itself.
