Another winner is the 2015 Duemani, a deep, concentrated, structured effort that has beautiful notes of blackberry and currant fruits intermixed with notes of toast oak, truffle, licorice, and graphite. With fabulous purity of fruit, building tannins, and medium to full body, it’s another seriously impressive effort from this estate that’s well worth having in your cellar. However, it needs at least 3-4 years of bottle age.

The 2015 Duemani (Cabernet Franc) is a powerful, sumptuous wine endowed with considerable depth. Dried herbs, leather, cedar, smoke and tobacco give the Duemani its distinctive aromatic signatures. Even though the 2015 is quite powerful, the presence of slightly forward aromas leads me to believe it is best enjoyed sooner rather than later.
Mid-deep garnet. More overt vanilla-clove oak here than in the Cifra 2016 just tasted, but still plenty of Cabernet Franc fragrance of tobacco leaf, perfumed black cherry and maybe some violet too. Earthy, spicy notes. Refined, elegant, spiced red cherry, clove and tobacco on the palate, with a long and perfumed finish. While there is a sizeable weight of tannins, they are becoming polished and starting to melt into the finish. This will develop into a pretty classy wine. (TJ)
The beautiful 2015 Cabernet Franc Duemani shows the heat of the summer growing season in a bold and upfront manner. The wine is impenetrable and inky dark in appearance. It is not jammy per se, but that brilliant Tuscan sunshine seems to bubble up from inside the dark fiber of this thickly extracted expression. The bouquet flows forth with generous blackberry, spice and cured tobacco. Overall the integration is seamless and impressively balanced.
