The 2009 Zinfandel Old Kraft Vineyard is another dark, powerful wine. The aromatic and flavor profile gravitates towards the brooding side of things. Black cherries, tar, smoke and licorice take hold of the palate and never let up in this striking Zinfandel.

The 2009 Zinfandel Old Kraft Vineyard is another dark, powerful wine. The aromatic and flavor profile gravitates towards the brooding side of things. (15.7% alcohol; from a vineyard originally planted in the 1860s, then replanted in the 1880s): Dark red. Musky nut skin dominates the nose. Plush, expansive and seamless but lacking the verve of most of the other 2009 zins from Robert Biale; seems overripe. Finishes with substantial tongue-dusting tannins and a bit of free-floating acidity. I'd consume this in the short term.
