2003 Landmark Syrah Steel Plow El Farolito Vineyard

Good ruby-red color. Aromas and flavors of blackberry, licorice and black pepper, with hints of herbs and menthol. Tightly wound and a bit dry-edged, this seemed to shut down in the glass. Rather tannic today, with the finish showing a slight raw note. From a very low crop level, and yet I find this less varietally expressive than the 2002 release.
