The 2020 Syrah Hilltops is a slightly more rounded effort offering black fruits (blackberries, plums), smoked meats, and peppery herbs in its medium to full-bodied, rich, mouth-filling style. It's slightly more concentrated and expansive compared to the Originals Syrah, yet I think both will evolve and drink well for at least a decade.

The 2020 Syrah Hilltops is made from a single block of high-density Syrah planted in 2004. It shows good energy and vibrancy, but in the end, the site and vintage speak more, such that the Hilltops is not materially different from the other wines. There's good attack up-front, but then the wine seems to stop at the mid-palate and finish.
