From red, rocky soils in Oakville, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Saunders Vineyard spent 16 months in new French oak. It’s another full-bodied, powerful, yet elegant and seamless wine from this estate that has incredible charm and accessibility. Notes of blueberries, white flowers, vanilla bean, and incense notes all flow to a seamless 2016 that has ultra-fine tannins, awesome purity of fruit, and a great finish. It has 15+ years of prime drinking ahead of it, but there’s no need to delay gratification.

The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Saunders Vineyard is one of the most expressive wines in this range. Super-ripe red cherry, plum, mocha, spice and new leather infuse this sumptuous, creamy Oakville Cabernet. Russell Bevan and his team have done a tremendous job in coaxing out all the potential of this rugged hillside site. More than anything else, the Saunders has an element of brightness that completes the wines beautifully. Don't miss it. (AG)
Deep purple-black in color, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Saunders Vineyard gives lovely spicy black and red currants, wild blueberries and Sichuan pepper with touches of cardamom and earth. The palate is medium to full-bodied, firm, grainy and fresh, finishing long and minerally. 132 cases produced.
The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Saunders Vineyard is fabulous. Dark, explosive and totally captivating, the 2016 bristles with the energy that is so typical of this rugged mountain site in the hills of Oakville. Today, the oak is a bit prominent, but that should not be an issue once the wine is in bottle, as there is no shortage of density.
