From the Los Olivos District and mostly destemmed and aged in 50% new French and Hungarian oak, the 2016 Syrah Williamson-Doré Vineyard sports a saturated purple color to go with notes of blackberries, singed cedarwood, ground pepper, and charred meats. It shows the focused, more firm style of the vintage yet has notable concentration, ripe tannins, and a good finish. It's a powerful yet elegant Syrah that's going to benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age and shine for 7-8 years.

Medium to deep ruby-purple, the 2016 Syrah Williamson-Doré Vineyard has a dense nose of wild blackberries, blueberries, boysenberry, black cherries, olive, charcuterie, bitter chocolate and a coffee hint. Medium to full-bodied, it packs in the dark fruits in the mouth with savory accents to frame, firm, chewy tannins and good freshness on the finish.
The 2016 Syrah Williamson-Doré Vineyard is another hugely promising wine in the Foxen stable. Ripe, dense and racy, the 2016 is showing beautifully from barrel today. There is more than enough textural intensity and persistence to support many years of fine drinking. As always, the Williamson-Doré is the more fruit-driven and overt of the two Foxen Syrahs.
