Punteggio 94/100 · Da bere 2025-2035, Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate, Sep 2023

The 2021 Pinot Noir Sky Ridge Vineyard is new in the Martinelli portfolio and comes from Swan and Calera vines planted in 2016. It has layered scents of red cherries, cranberries, Earl Grey tea, mushroom and tobacco. The medium-bodied palate is supple and energetic with surprisingly concentrated, earth-laced fruit, and it has a very long, spicy finish. Just 99 cases were made.

Punteggio 90/100 · Da bere 2023-2031, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Aug 2023

A new offering in this range, the 2021 Pinot Noir Sky Ridge emerges from a site on Martinelli Road in the Russian River Valley. Medium in body and forward, the 2021 offers up copious sweet red cherry, blood orange, spice and menthol. Silky tannins frame the high-toned finish nicely. The 2021 is a bit light, as many of the wines are in this vintage, but a promising debut. Mount Eden and Swan clone, a first for Martinelli in the Russian River, yields a soft, attractive Pinot.

Martinelli is a Sonoma benchmark for vineyard-designate bottlings—wines built to highlight how strongly a single site can shape Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Zinfandel. Across the range, the focus stays consistent: small-production bottlings that feel distinctly tied to where they’re grown.
