Note di degustazione
Good dark red. Aromas of dark berries, red raspberry, licorice, peppery herbs and spices. Supple and fairly large-scaled, conveying a saline quality to its cherry and smoke flavors. Fuller than the 2016 version but a bit lower-toned as well. The plush, fine-grained tannins are almost invisible. The wine's Grenache component was aged in neutral puncheons, its Mourvedre and Syrah in standard barriques. (Sean Boyd selects his best lots of Grenache and Mourvedre for this blend, with the rest going into wines he makes under other labels, including his Proletariat keg wines; some of the Grenache was vinified with whole clusters)

The 2017 Southern Blend is a GSM blend with a classic core of dusty, mineral-driven red fruit and subtle red and black spices on the nose, mingling with floral tones and soft oak aromas. The medium-bodied palate is clean and correct, with an inorganic rocky tension to its spicy core, ending with a structured and balanced finish. 880 cases made.
