This has a powerful nose with preserved apricots in a battle with the alcohol (13.5%) and some savoury notes coming through too. Complex, this nose becomes more and more honeyed with air. The acidity is very well balanced and there is good length, allowing you to enjoy the stone fruits that develop into more complex savoury flavours, a little bready but hard to place.

The 2010 Sigalas Rabaud is drinking beautifully at the moment, showing much better than at the 10-Year-On tasting four years earlier. It has a lively and delineated bouquet with dried honey, saffron and light quince aromas that contain the energy that this vintage seems to imbue its sweet wines. The palate is well-balanced with a taut line of acidity, again, suffused with tension and energy, leading to a satisfyingly botrytis-rich finish. Very fine. Tasted from a bottle sent directly from Sigalas Rabaud to the UK.

The 2010 Sigalas-Rabaud is a bit smudged and lacks some definition on the nose, a touch of VA here. The palate is balanced with a viscous opening: honey, apricot, tangerine and ginger notes, the spicy aspect of this Sauternes becoming more conspicuous towards the finish that just cuts away a bit too quickly. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners 10-Year On Bordeaux horizontal.
