Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon East Elevation bursts from the glass with bombastic black cherry pie, blueberry compote and crème de cassis notions followed by hints of pencil shavings, tree bark and truffles plus a waft of camphor. Full-bodied and firm, with a lovely finely grained texture, it has a compelling line of freshness giving a lift to the densely packed black fruit, finishing on a lingering minty note.

The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon East Elevation is laced with blackberry jam, grilled herbs, smoke, licorice and tobacco, all of which give the wine a distinctly brooding feel. It is the most overtly ripe wine in the range, but also quite forbidding at this stage. I would allow it at least a few years to soften.
A ripe and layered red with dark berries and dried cherries. Hints of walnuts and hazelnuts. Full body and lightly chewy tannins. Savory aftertaste. Salty undertone. Drink in 2022.
