Sweet damsons on the nose. Pretty dry and grippy. The tannins are totally dominant and it is impossible to see the fruit. (JH)

I have never been a fan of this estate, and their 2011 is certainly above average in quality, but it falls short of being exciting. The wine exhibits a dark ruby/plum color, spicy, earthy, red and black currant fruit notes and rustic tannins. It is generally well-made, if uninspiring. Give it 2-4 years of bottle age and drink it over the following 12-15 years.
Sweet, modern fruit – could well be New World. Polished and expressive. Dry, grainy finish. (RH)
Dark greyish crimson. Sweet vanilla aroma. Then damson and cherry and a hint of cedar. Strong vanilla on the palate, tannins are a bit dry and impede the wine across the palate. Fresh enough. (JH)

The Quié family purchased Pauillac Fifth Growth Ch. Croizet-Bages in 1942, adding Rauzan-Gassies four years later. Once part of the same estate as the neighbouring Rauzan-Ségla, this Margaux property was split off in time for the 1855 Classification, earning Second Growth status.
