The 2013 L'Extravagant de Doisy-Daëne replicates my note taken two years earlier at the property. Peach intermingles with Vervane and saffron on the nose. The palate is rich and unctuous, with nectarine and lemongrass spicing up the finish. While not the best vintage I have encountered, it is impressive for the year and will continue to improve in bottle.

The 2013 L’Extravagant de Doisy-Daëne has a very peachy nose, seductive but maybe not as complex as the ensuing two vintages. The palate is rich and decadent, layers of honeyed fruit laced with mandarin and nectarine, a touch of lemongrass towards the finish. It still needs a bit of bottle age to loosen-up on the finish. Very fine.
Baked apple, spices, dried flowers, almonds and Chamomile are some of the many notes that blossom in the 2013 Doisy-Daëne L'Extravagant. Rich and textured on the palate, the 2013 boasts superb depth and pure texture. The Extravagant is quite a bit more viscous than the straight Doisy-Daëne and is likely to require a good many years of cellaring to be at its best.
