The 2015 Merlot Blueline Estate is another beauty offering notable opulence and texture while staying balanced and pure. Currants, black cherries, smoked earth and spice-box all flow to a full-bodied, ripe, layered Merlot that has the class to keep for 15 years or more.
Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2015 Merlot Blueline Estate gives pretty red and black cherry notes with a compelling spiciness in the undercurrent plus hints of potpourri and garrigue. Medium to full-bodied with rounded tannins and just enough freshness, if finishes on an earthy note.
In 2015, the Merlot Blueline is ripe, juicy and powerful, which is to say very much in the style of the year. Today, the Merlot looks like it will drink well young. Some of the more distinctive savory notes this wine often shows have been baked out, but the silky tannins compensate.
