Punteggio 90/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, May 2014

(50% new oak; all de-stemmed fruit): Brilliant ruby-red. Pungent dark berries, licorice, mocha and allspice on the fragrant, mineral-tinged nose. Offers intense dark berry and spicecake flavors that are lifted and given spine by tangy acidity, which also adds clarity. Becomes chewier and spicier with air and finishes sappy, gently tannic and long, with a lingering hint of cola.

Punteggio 88/100 · Da bere 2013-2023, Robert Parker, Dec 2013

From a hillside vineyard north of Occidental, in the heart of the western Sonoma Coast, the 2012 Pinot Noir Silver Eagle Vineyard is tighter and less outgoing than its siblings with noticeable tannins and structure. It reveals cherry pie and plum-like characteristics intermixed with hints of clove and allspice. Medium-bodied, structured and austere, it possesses a complex character along with a touch of angularity. Drink it over the next decade. All of Sojourn Cellars’ Chardonnays see about 30% new oak, and tend to have finished alcohols in the 14% to 14.3% range. Sojourn produces a half dozen Pinot Noirs, ranging between 14.2% and 14.6% natural alcohol. Most of them are made from Dijon clones. Tel. (707) 938-7212
