2005 Freeman Chardonnay Ryo-fu

Bright straw. Exotic aromas of iodine, lime zest, jasmine and smoked meat strongly suggest Burgundy, with a seductive licorice note adding complexity. Firm, dry citrus and quince flavors are nicely concentrated and focused, with a bright mineral note building with aeration. Finishes with impressive sappy length and a persistent citrus pith note. Intriguing stuff.
