(16.2% alcohol) Good deep red. Exotic aromas of briary redcurrant and cherry liqueur, with a slightly stewed quality. Then creamy-sweet and concentrated, with a supple texture to the flavors of crushed berries, sassafras and licorice. Finishes with substantial dusty tannins and very good length.

The 2004 Vieux-Os Zinfandel Ira Carter Vineyard (16.2% alcohol) yielded only .8 tons of fruit per acre in 2004. This is a superb Zinfandel exhibiting a smorgasbord of aromas ranging from ground pepper, roasted herbs, and meat juices to black cherry, underbrush, and incense. The wine is fruit-driven, full-bodied, opulent, and undeniably seductive. It is best for drinking over the next 4-5 years.
