2015 Dulcinea Santos Ferreira Sidónio de Sousa Rosé Special Cuvée Espumante

The 2015 Espumante Rosé Special Cuvée is a Baga from the same vintage, harvest date and grape as the regular NV Brut Nature Rosé this issue, although that was disgorged about six months later. This was disgorged in November 2017. The main vinification difference between the two is that the grapes for the regular were crushed by a typical press, while this Special sparkler had the grapes crushed by gravity. Paulo Sousa said that the Special Cuvée had more elegance and acidity. I agree. The regular Brut seems rounder and toastier with more caressing texture, but I very much liked the zing and zestier finish here. The tense finish seems longer. They are different sides of the same coin, both fine values. I liked them both.
