Sweet and weighty on the palate, offering plush boysenberry, spicecake and floral pastille flavors that smoothly blend depth and energy. The 2017 Châteauneuf Du Pape La Begude Des Papes is solid, offering a fruit-forward, rich, medium to full-bodied style as well as outstanding notes of blackberries, ground pepper, and spring flowers. A blend of 70% Grenache, 15% Syrah, and the rest Mourvèdre and Cinsault, drink this expansive, textured, pleasure-bent beauty over the coming 8-10 years.
A great success this year, the 2017 Chateauneuf du Pape features a sexy mélange of black cherries and red raspberries on the nose. A blend of 70% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 12% Mourvèdre and 3% Cinsault from the lieu-dit la Brusquières, aged in a mix of old barrels and concrete tank, it's full-bodied, creamy and lush without being warm or overripe. Hints of dark fruit and licorice accent notes of orange zest and dried spices on the long finish.
60% Grenache Blanc, 30% Clairette, 10% Bourboulenc. Cask sample. Tasted blind. Sickly aroma. Simple citric fruit on the palate. Bitter notes to finish. (RH)
