1999 Owen Roe Merlot DuBrul Vineyard

Bright, full ruby. Outrageous, sauvage aromas of roasted red fruits, game, tar, woodsmoke, minerals and truffle. Fat, sweet and thick, but with uncanny inner-mouth aromatics for such a large-scaled young wine. A bit unrefined, but this delivers a major mouthful of black raspberry fruit and smoky French oak. Finishes with big, chewy tannins and a surprisingly firm shape.
