Sporting a fragrant, perfumed nose, the 2006 Villa Creek High Road James Berry Vineyard is a blend of 50% Syrah, 30% Grenache and 20% Mourvèdre and is packed with impressive blackberry fruit, spice, tar and dusty chocolate nuances. It’s medium bodied on the palate and has a silky texture, ripe fruit, vibrant acidity and plenty of fine grained tannins on the finish. Drink this beauty over the next 10 years.

The outstanding 2006 High Road (50% Syrah, 30% Grenache, and 20% Mourvedre) comes from the James Berry Vineyards, and that alone probably ensures a stunning effort. Elegant kirsch liqueur intermixed with blackberry, incense, and spring flowers with some chalkiness are followed by a wine with good structure, purity, and medium to full body and length. (50% syrah, 30% grenache and 20% mourvedre) Ruby-red. Sexy dark berry, candied cherry and floral aromas, with a suave underpinning of smoky minerals. Lush, deeply concentrated dark berry flavors are enlivened by Asian spices and tangy minerals and framed by silky tannins. Really expands on the finish, which is pliant and extremely long. Utterly seamless and delicious.
