Punteggio 94/100 · Da bere 2022-2032, Josh Raynolds, Nov 2017

(100% new French oak): Bright purple. Intense cherry, cassis, incense and roasted coffee aromas are energized by a jolt of zesty minerality and a suave floral nuance. Deeply pitched cherry liqueur, blackcurrant, spicecake and vanilla flavors expand and become livelier with air, picking up a hint of toasty oak spice and showing impressive clarity. Finishes smooth, sweet and extremely long, with fine-grained tannins and lingering suggestions of cherry compote, mocha and candied rose.

Punteggio 97/100 · Da bere 2016-2024, Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate, Aug 2016

The 2014 Mayote is a total, jaw-dropping good blockbuster that readers need to taste. Made from an unusual blend of 56% Syrah, 36% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Petit Verdot that spent 22 months in 100% new French oak, it offers killer notes of creme de cassis, toasted spice and wild herbs in a massively concentrated, voluptuous, rounded, sexy wine that expands on the palate, while never seeming heavy or cumbersome. It got more than one "wow" in the notes and should continue to impress through 2024.

Brilliant violet. Assertively perfumed aromas of candied dark berries, peppery spices, violet and vanilla carry a smoky topnote. Coats the palate with sweet cherry liqueur and blueberry flavors that tighten up and become spicier with aeration. Deepens and expands on the strikingly long, floral-tinged finish, which features supple tannins and a hint of licorice pastille.

Inky purple. Pungent aromas of dark berry preserves, vanilla and potpourri, with strong accents of mocha and cola. Pliant, seamless dark berry and candied cherry flavors pick up a smoky quality in the mid-palate, along with a hint of succulent herbs. Bright and nervy on the extremely persistent finish, which is given shape by dusty, building tannins.
