The 2002 Chambolle-Musigny Les Chatelots has a demure, dark berry-scented nose. This extremely elegant, medium-bodied effort is redolent with cassis, red currants, violets, and spices. Its satin-textured character reveals loads of ripe tannin and a long, edge-free finish. Drink it over the next 7 years. Importer: Neal Rosenthal Wine Merchant, New York, NY; tel. (800) 910-1990

Good bright red. Reduced aromas of black fruits. Less fruity and more minerally than the Combottes, but extremely closed and tough today, even a bit dry on the finish. Barthod says this was much more elegant than the Combottes at an earlier stage, but is developing at a snail's pace as it's in the coldest corner of the cellar. Almost certainly richer than it's showing today.
