Note di degustazione
The 2012 Pinot Noir Rice-Spivak Vineyard is deep, pliant and intense, with good mid-palate depth and intensity. Dark red and purplish berry notes, spice, new leather, sage and tobacco meld together in a supple, inviting Pinot endowed with a real sense of weight and gravitas. This parcel is planted with the distinctive Swan clone of Pinot Noir. Cobb used 50% whole clusters here. There is plenty of potential here.

A bit reduced upon opening, this wine needs air to blow clean in the glass. With opening gives notes of pink grapefruit pith, spice and mixed bay, pine and conifer. Mouth-watering acidity is coupled with integrated tannin and lots of length. This wine is tight right now. Hold to allow it to develop in bottle. (ECB)
The 2012 Pinot Noir Rice-Spivak Vineyard is a bit severe in style, with a firm sense of tannins and decidedly savory overtones. Graphite, smoke, crushed rocks and lifted, floral notes influenced by the inclusion of 35% whole clusters all add to the wine's personality. Today, the Rice-Spivak captures plenty of the energy of this cool site in the Sebastopol Hills. It will be interesting to see if the 2012 fleshes out in bottle.
