Pale garnet, the 2008 Pinot Noir Rice Spivak Vineyard has pretty aromas of dried leaves, iron, mushrooms and dried berries. Medium-bodied, it offers a great blend of bright dried berries and more savory secondary notes, with a firm, fresh structure and nuanced finish.

6 miles from the coast. Light and lively though just a little vapid. Gosh it’s old! A good start…? Lots of acidity. Good vitality. (JR)
A late release, Cobb's 2008 Pinot Noir Rice-Spivak Vineyard was bottled along with the 2009s, which means it spent a whopping 30 months in barrel, highly unusual for Pinot Noir. Dried red fruits, savory herbs and licorice all waft from the glass. Given the extended time in barrel (indicated on the back label) it isn't surprising the 2008 shows mellowed nuances in its fruit. Hints of tar, asphalt and licorice all add gravitas on the finish. An exotic and intriguing wine, the Rice-Spivak is another beautiful wine from Ross Cobb.
Bright red. Sexy aromas of candied red berries, cherry-cola, anise and fresh bay, with a hint of potpourri that gains strength with air. Juicy, penetrating raspberry and cherry flavors show increasing spiciness and weight as the wine opens in the glass. The finish strongly echoes the raspberry note and lingers with impressive clarity and persistence. This is balanced to age.
