Punteggio 95+/100 · Da bere 2017-2032, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Dec 2014

The highlight among these releases from Robert Craig, the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Mt. Veeder is off the charts gorgeous. A super-classic Veeder profile of graphite-infused blue and black fruit opens up in the glass. The inclusion of 20% Merlot in the blend helps soften some of the mountain tannins, but there is still no shortage of personality and intensity. A radiant finish round out this knockout effort from Robert Craig. I can't recommend the 2012 highly enough, especially for its very reasonable price tag.

Punteggio 95/100 · Da bere 2017-2037, Robert Parker, Oct 2014

The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Mount Veeder comes from an 1,800-foot elevation vineyard in the Mayacamas Mountains. This seems to be the biggest, densest, most backward of the wines, with a boatload of tannins still to resolve, but with glorious levels of blueberry and blackberry fruit. There’s something about these Mount Veeder Cabernets: when they’re good, they’re super-good. It has considerable tannin and structure as well as an opaque purple color. It is full-bodied, exhibits tremendous potential, and should age beautifully for 15 or more years. This is a stunning wine, but, of all the Robert Craig 2012s, the one that requires the most patience. Forget it for 3-4 years and drink it over the following 15-20.

The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon (Mount Veeder) captures all the pedigree and nuance of the appellation in its searing, powerful intensity. Iron, graphite, dried herbs, tobacco and menthol play off a core of red-toned fruit. The new oak, 70%, is quite prominent and yet the wine has aged well. Beams of insistent Veeder tannin punctuate the finish. All the fruit came from Robin Williams' estate, known today as Pym-Rae.
