The 2017 Zinfandel Bedrock Vineyard comes from vines planted in 1888 and is a blend of 94% Zinfandel (with other black varieties interplanted), 3% Mourvèdre and 2% Petite Sirah. It has a medium to deep ruby-purple color and features scents of blueberry coulis, dark chocolate, redcurrant and spiced black cherries with warm earth, citrus peel, herbs and floral notes. The palate is light to medium-bodied and restrained with firm, slightly chewy tannins and good freshness, finishing long with warm, spicy fruits. 221 cases produced.

Deeper colored, the 2017 Zinfandel Bedrock Vineyard offers more cassis and black fruits as well as a terrific sense of minerality in its ground herbs, scorched earth, and peppery aromas and flavors. With medium to full body, notable structure, and a powerful yet balanced style, it’s going to age beautifully for over a decade.
The 2017 Zinfandel Bedrock Vineyard dark, powerful and quite intense, with plenty of black cherry, smoke, leather, licorice and game undertones. As always, the Bedrock is quite potent and brooding in style. Muscular, sinewy tannins wrap around the finish. The 2017 is going to need a few years to come together, but I suspect it will always be a brute. Dollops of Mourvèdre and Petite Sirah round out the blend.
