The deep red 2020 Syrah Altamont is gorgeous on the nose, with notes of fresh lavender, fresh blackberries, and olives. Medium to full-bodied, this is a fantastic 2020 with a weightless feel, revealing beautiful balance in its sweet, pure fruit, savory, ripe tannins, and long, even spine of acidity. Savory and long, I would be thrilled to have this wine in my cellar. This may be the best Syrah I’ve tasted in a long time, and I would recommend it to any lovers of Syrah. Drink over the next 15 years.

The 2020 Syrah Altamont is packed with dark fruit, sage, menthol, licorice and chocolate. There is a bit of whole cluster savoriness that adds aromatic dimension. At the same time, the 2020 is a bit light on the mid-palate. This is a very tough wine to taste today, as the tannins are bruising in their searing intensity.
