A new offering form the Martinelli family, from a vineyard that borders the Marcassin Estate Vineyard on the Sonoma Coast, is their 2014 Pinot Noir Wild Thyme Vineyard. This sees about 50% new oak and the vineyard is planted with several clones such as Pommard, 943 and a few others. Wonderful black cherry and raspberry fruit interwoven with spring flowers and strawberries are all present in this deep, full-bodied, layered wine. The oak again is beautifully integrated and long. Drink it over the next 10-15 years.

Exquisitely layered on the palate and dazzling throughout, the 2014 possesses magnificent purity and class. This is a magnificent Pinot Noir from Martinelli. Fewer than 100 cases were bottled. Readers who can find it should not hesitate, as it is a total knock-out.
