Deep, inky purple that goes all the way out to the rim. Cola, blackberry, black cherry. Really intense, spicy, deep flavour. Long, fresh finish. Most of the Petite Syrah I taste is far more about structure than fruit – this has heaps of fruit! (SCJ)

The 2022 Petite Syrah Pesenti Vineyard leads with an incredibly opaque and dense nose of blackcurrant, molasses, blueberry compote, dried herbs, aniseed, violet and cracked pepper. The palate is more than full-bodied, absolutely bursting at the seams with inky, dense, chewy fruit flavors. It is lined with just enough freshening acidity to pull some semblance of balance out of the long, iron-laced finish. While this should benefit from a few years to unwind and shed some fruit-laden concentration, this is a monstrous wine through and through and is clearly meant to be enjoyed as such.
