Punteggio 95/100 · Da bere 2014-2021, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Nov 2013

The 2010 The Change Up shows this great Napa Valley vintage at its best. Fresh, vibrant and totally alive in the glass, the 2010 is loaded with class and personality. An exotic melange of blue/black fruits, cassis, graphite and smoke captivate all the senses. Layers of dark, deeply spiced fruit caress the palate on the generous, inviting finish. The addition of 9% Petite Sirah from Kick Ranch gives the 2010 an extra kick of tannic some of the other wines in this range don't have. The blend is 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Cabernet Franc and 9% Petite Sirah.

Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2013-2015, Robert Parker, Oct 2013

The 2010 Proprietary Red The Change Up clearly reflects Les Behrens’ affection for the game of baseball. A blend of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Cabernet Franc and 9% Petite Sirah, it exhibits notes of plum sauce, blueberries and blackberries. While it does not possess the pure density of its 2010 predecessors, it offers lots of juicy fruit, a nice sucrosity and impressive purity as well as length. It is lighter-weight by this winery’s standards, tipping the scales at 14.8% alcohol. Consume it over the next 10-12 years. The always interesting, creative Behrens Family operation high on Spring Mountain has fashioned another enticing portfolio of wines with some of the most creepy and funny labels in the wine business. The labels often belie just how serious this estate is about its vineyards and the quality of its wines. Tel. (707) 963-1774

(73% cabernet sauvignon, 18% cabernet franc and 9% syrah; this is the new version of Ode to Picasso): Bright, medium ruby-red, with purple highlights. High-pitched aromas of blackberry, violet and bitter chocolate. Intense and precise in the mouth, with dark fruit flavors similar to the aromas. Finishes firm and subtly persistent. Like the foregoing wines, this is not a huge wine but offers very good balance and structure.
