Deep garnet colored, the 2007 Janzen Cloudy's Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon opens with mature notes of unsmoked cigars, leather, spice box and coffee beans with a core of prunes and dried figs plus a waft of dusty earth. Full-bodied with soft, powdery tannins, the evolved flavors develop into a nice long earthy finish.

The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Cloudy’s Vineyard seems restrained compared to the Beckstoffer To-Kalon or even the regular Napa bottling. Some smokiness, herbs, crushed rock, and black and blue fruits are present in this wine, which is medium to full-bodied and the most elegant, reserved wine in the portfolio.
