The 1994 Torrione is a proprietary vino da tavola made from 100% Sangiovese. It displays a dark ruby/plum color, and a sexy, smoky, extroverted personality with intense ripe cherry fruit nicely blended with new saddle leather and pain grille notes. The wine is medium-bodied and rich, with excellent fruit, and fine overall harmony and length. An exceptionally stylish, highly successful wine, it manages to avoid the hollowness and austerity possessed by many 1994s. Anticipated maturity: now-2008. Importer: Vias Imports, New York, NY; tel. Petrolo is one of Tuscany’s cult names. It is best known for Galatrona – a Merlot cuvée that is, along with Masseto, often described as the Pétrus of Tuscany.
