Note di degustazione
Made from grapes picked extraordinarily early (September 8) to avoid the lasting heat spike that blanketed the region, the 2022 Petite Sirah Palisades Vineyard is the most powerful of these Carlisle wines. In the glass, it takes on a black/purple saturated color and boasts aromas of plum compote, scorched earth, and wild purple flowers, along with a candied blueberry note that’s quite appealing in its youth. Full-bodied, it’s certainly a rich wine, but it does offer a lot of youthful appeal and has velvety rich tannins and a clean finish. Pair it with BBQ, pulled pork, or other fatty braised meats. Drink 2024-2036.

The 2022 Petite Sirah Palisades Vineyard is fabulous. Inky, rich and explosive, the 2022 captures all the magic of this Calistoga site. Iron, incense, grilled herbs, lavender and chocolate play off a core of intense, dark-toned fruit. I must admit some sadness that Mike Officer will no longer make this wine. The 2022 is a treasure, a testament to both his passion for old-vine sites and the very special character of this place. Don’t miss it.
