Spottswoode's 2022 Sauvignon Blanc Mary's Block comes only from the estate in Saint Helena, and it's only available via the mailing list. Beyond that, the other winemaking difference from the regular Sauvignon Blanc is that it's entirely barrel fermented in French oak—this vintage saw 76% new wood. It's tight and citrusy on the nose, with accents of slightly menthol-scented oak. Cool, restrained and elegant, it comes across as only being medium-bodied, despite being 14.3% alcohol, which is easily carried by the wine's concentration and long, silky-textured finish.

The 2022 Sauvignon Blanc Mary's Block sees more new oak, and it's a richer, more serious Sauvignon Blanc that still shows the house vibrancy and purity. Ripe citrus, chalky minerality, white flowers, and hints of orange blossom all define the aromatics, and this beauty is medium-bodied, has good concentration, integrated acidity, and a gorgeous finish.
Informazioni sul produttore

Spottswoode is one of those rare Napa estates whose reputation rests less on volume or spectacle than on persistent exactitude. Set on the western edge of St Helena, where the Mayacamas rise and afternoon breezes temper the valley’s warmth, the vineyard occupies a favoured pocket of the appellation.
