Note di degustazione
The 2018 Songs Without Words is mostly Cabernet Sauvignon from Happy Canyon Vineyard. It offers tons of Happy Canyon savoriness amplified by Matthias Pippig's approach that exalts texture. Super-ripe black plum, espresso, cloves and licorice race across the palate. The 2020 is not a shy wine, but it has tons of character.

Blackcurrants, leafy herbs, fennel, and black olive notes, as well as some classic Cabernet lead pencil, all emerge from the 2018 Songs Without Words, a medium to full-bodied, nicely textured, mouth-filling release. Drink bottles over the coming decade. It’s always a blast tasting through the lineup from Matthias Pippig, and while it’s always a little bit of a roller coaster given the divergent varieties and styles, the wines never lack for character.
The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Songs Without Words, blended with around 12% Petit Verdot, has a medium ruby color and features alluring black cherries and currants, tar, iron, tobacco leaves, aniseed and underbrush aromas. The palate is medium-bodied, grainy, refreshing and easy to drink, boasting loads of spicy accents that fan across the long finish.
