The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon GTS bristles with energy and tension, both unusual qualities for the year. Rose petals, bright red plums, spices and mint are some of the many notes that jump from the glass. The 2012 impresses for its balance and harmony. This is easily one of the best Cabernets I have tasted from Tom Seaver and his winemaker, Thomas Rivers Brown.

(from a vineyard planted at 1,400 feet): Deep ruby-red. Blackberry, plum, licorice and a whiff of beef blood on the nose. Dense, plummy and very ripe, with the mid-palate stuffing to support its huge tannins. Winemaker Thomas Brown does just 10 to 12 days of skin contact for Tom Seaver's cabernet, noting that the challenge here is to get enough tannin ripeness. This 2012 looks to be a success.
The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon GTS is rich, intense and explosive. Dark cherries, plums, mocha, licorice and smoke jump from the glass. This is one of the more exuberant, opulent vintages of Tom Seaver's Cabernet Sauvignon I can remember tasting. Black cherry, plum, mocha, sweet spices and menthol all flesh out on the voluptuous finish. This is a classic example of 2012.
