The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Coach House Block Roennfeldt Road offers up fragrant notes of pain grille, pencil lead, tar, black currant, and blackberry. Full-bodied and voluptuous on the palate, this glossy effort conceals enough ripe tannin to evolve for another 5-7 years. It should be at its best from 2015 to 2030. Two Hands is a negociant operation run impeccably by Michael Twelftree. It reflects the best that can be sourced from all over South Australia. The packaging provides some serious design competition to the Dan Philips R Wine portfolio. The Garden Series is Shiraz sourced from a wide range of South Australia vineyards and line-priced at $60. Deep ruby. Red- and blackcurrant, crystallized flowers, cured tobacco and suave oak spices on the nose. Deeply concentrated but energetic, with vivid red and dark berry flavors complicated by candied rose, lavender and cola. Takes a turn toward blueberry and boysenberry with air and finishes with subtle tannic grip and a jolt of tangy berry skin. A wonderfully fresh cabernet with outstanding finishing cut.
