The 2014 Chablis Grand Cru Blanchots is a contender for Domaine Raveneau's finest release in this great year for Chablis. It has an extremely well defined, marine-influenced bouquet that delivers captivating intensity. This is a Chablis that looks you straight between the eyes. The palate displays exquisite balance with razor-sharp acidity. It feels so lively and vivacious, with a wonderful sense of harmony and poise towards the finish. This is sophisticated and classy, but it will need 4-6 years to really settle into its groove. You cannot bestow too many superlatives here.

Pale yellow. Very tight nose hints at white peach, flint and oyster shell. Tightly wound, powerful and penetrating, with brisk acidity intensifying the flavors of lemon oil and grapefruit pith. Boasts excellent texture and rising perfume but this comes across as more austere today than the premier crus here.
Flint, crushed rock, menthol, white pepper and mint on the nose, plus a saline whiff of chicken broth. Seamless and fine-grained, offering a captivating combination of salinity and sucrosité . This seems much more open than a barrel sample was a year ago. Finishes suave, ripe and long, with terrific floral complexity and lift; for all its sweetness this wine is bone dry.
