The 2018 Les Leçons des Maîtres is a serious wine, composed of 76% Sauvignon Blanc and 24% Sémillon. The nose is gorgeous, with aromas of warm peaches, white lilac, beeswax, dried hay, kiwi and hints of fresh tarragon. The medium-bodied palate is rounded and elegantly styled with understated flavors, bright freshness and a long finish. I suspect this will improve and gain nuance over the next 3-5 years in bottle. Only 103 cases were made.

First, the 2018 Les Leçons Des Maîtres checks in as a blend of 76% Sauvignon and 24% Semillon that spent 8 months on lees in new French oak barrels. It's absorbed every ounce of oak and offers a Haut Brion Blanc-like bouquet of white grapefruit, tart pineapple, mint, white flowers, and salty minerality. Medium-bodied, nicely concentrated, and racy on the palate, with bright acidity, it's a Sauvignon Blanc meant for the cellar. Hide bottles for 4-5 years and it will evolve for two decades or more. There are two brilliant Sauvignon Blancs from this winemaker duo of Bibiana Gonzalez Rave and Jeff Pisoni.
This has very attractive, ripe tropical fruit with lime, guava and paw paw, all intermingled with herbal nuances. The palate has a succulent, tangy, green-mango core with zesty acidity to drive the finish long and fresh. So full of lively fruit. Drink now.
