Punteggio 94/100 · Da bere 2022-2037, Jeb Dunnuck, Jul 2022

Moving to the reds, the 2019 Grenache River Rock Vineyard offers a great nose of ripe cherry and strawberry-like fruits as well as spring flowers, white pepper, graphite, and herbes de Provence. Supple, elegant, and seamless on the palate, this balanced, elegant, layered Grenache will drink nicely for a solid 15 years with no issues.

Punteggio 94-96/100 · Da bere 2021-2029, Jeb Dunnuck, May 2021

Moving to the barrel samples, the 2019 Grenache River Rock Vineyard has an incredibly spicy, herbal, cedary, and peppery style as well as medium to full-bodied richness, ripe, polished tannins, terrific balance, and a great finish. It doesn't quite have the density of the 2018, but it’s certainly more up-front and perfumed. It's another exotic, singular expression of Grenache that's well worth seeking out. One of the most exciting new labels out there is PÁŠXA Wines (pronounced “Pahk-sha”), which was created by owner Mike Martin (also behind the incredible wines at The Walls) and focuses on the Rocks region of the Walla Walla Valley. The wines are made by Todd Alexander of Force Majeure, and the vineyards are farmed by Walla Walla Vineyard expert Serafin Saldana. Their 2018s are the first release, but trust me, this is an estate worth jumping on.
