Note di degustazione
Full bottle 1,438 g. Cobbly clay loam soils. 11 months in French oak, 21% new. TA 6.4 g/l, pH 3.38. Tasted blind. Ripe yellow apples baked with vanilla and nutmeg, lemon peel, struck match, rich starchy pasta dough, chalky minerality, whiff of vanilla crème pâtissière , lemon-peel pithiness on the palate. A touch boozy but holds it very well. A rich, well-made Chardonnay that is approachable now and cellarable. Good concentration. (SCJ)

Another brilliant wine, the 2019 Chardonnay Gap's Crown Vineyard boasts a lively gold hue as well as a great nose of mineral-laced stone fruits, crushed citrus, and white flowers. With lots of acidity on the palate balanced by solid depth of fruit, this fresh, focused, beautifully balanced Sonoma Coast Chardonnay will keep for 4-5 years, probably longer.
The 2019 Chardonnay Gap's Crown Vineyard offers slowly opening aromas of salted almonds, beeswax, baked apples and white flowers. The palate is medium-bodied, toasty and approachable with soft, perfumed fruits and a yeasty finish. 595 cases produced.
The 2019 Chardonnay Gap's Crown offers plenty of its mineral-driven intensity in a bracing, taut style. It will be interesting to see if the 2019 gains a bit more flesh. Today, it feels a bit austere.
