Another gem of a wine, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Patriarch makes the most of this vintage, revealing an opaque purple color as well as a gorgeous nose of crème de cassis, scorched earth, tobacco, lead pencil, and a Graves-like gravelly earth note. This beauty hits the palate with full-bodied richness, incredible purity of fruit, building yet silky tannins, and a monster of a finish. It displays the more streamlined, elegant, classic style of the vintage and is in need of 4-5 years of bottle age at a minimum, but it will be incredibly long-lived. This is a beautiful wine that’s well worth seeking out.

The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Patriarch, Frank's top selection from Winston Hill, is bursting at the seams with inky dark fruit, chocolate, spice, licorice and new leather. Richly textured and unctuous, the Patriarch is gorgeous in 2018. It is the most flamboyant wine in this range.
Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Patriarch needs a little coaxing to reveal slowly unfurling scents of blackcurrant pastilles, Morello cherries, blueberry compote and raspberry leaves with suggestions of fertile loam, cast-iron pan, violets and chocolate box plus a touch of garrigue. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is taut and muscular, quivering with latent energy at this youthful stage, framed by firm, ripe, grainy tannins and bold freshness, finishing long with a whole array of mineral, black fruit and floral fireworks. It will require a good 5 more years in bottle and should cellar for a further 30 years+.
