Also possessing a Graves-like minerality and earthiness, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Missouri Hooper is backward, tight and reserved, with serious notes of plums, currants and blueberries carrying ample wet stone, tobacco, bay leaf, spice and scorched earth nuances. Almost primordial on the palate and atypically structured and dense for a 2014 (I’d have guessed 2013), with huge concentration, high, yet integrated acidity, a stacked mid-palate and building tannin, it needs to be forgotten for 4-5 years and will be the longest-lived of these three releases.

An opulent and plush red with lots of ripe and juicy fruit. Chocolate and dried berry. Full body and round. A wealth of fruit covers the tannins now. Better in 2021.
A blast of minerality adds to the ocean of deep, dark, black fruits, licorice, smoke, vanilla bean and chocolate. Round and polished, sweet and fresh, there is length, vibrancy and a wealth of fruit here. The finish is all about the lift and sweet, black fruits. At slightly more than 15% ABV, there is no sensation of heat.
The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Missouri Hopper is powerful and intense, with plenty of dark stone fruit, blackberry jam and chocolate. The dusty tannins typical of this site need time to soften a touch, but this is another attractive, opulent wine. There is certainly no shortage of intensity or richness here.
